Be a kid or a teenage or an adult or an oldie, chicken lovers trend all over the world at all times! One meat that is a favourite of all beyond belief! When cooked, it can be presented in many guises. Sauté it, fry it, toss it, bake it, steam it – eat it the way you want to. Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, its flavour may change but its flesh remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.

Ingredients for Vermicelli Chicken Recipe

  • Boneless Chicken Breast cut into 2 inch pieces 2

  • Vermicelli 1 cup

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Black cardamoms 3

  • Strand of mace 1

  • Bay leaves 2

  • Green cardamoms 4-5

  • Cloves 4-5

  • One-inch cinnamon sticks 3

  • Black peppercorns 12-15

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Onion finely chopped 1 large

  • Ginger paste 1 tablespoon

  • Garlic paste 1 tablespoon

  • Tomatoes 3 medium

  • Coriander powder 1 1/2 tablespoons

  • Red chilli powder 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Black peppercorns crushed 1/2 teaspoon

  • Cumin powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Garam masala powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Grated lemon rind 1/2 teaspoon

  • Juice of ½ lemon

  • Fresh coriander leaves finely chopped 2 tablespoons

  • For garnishing

  • A little chilli flakes

  • A little garam masala powder

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick wok, add black cardamoms, mace, bay leaves, green cardamoms, cloves, cinnamon, black peppercorns and cumin seeds and sauté till fragrant.

Step 2

Add onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes till light brown. Add ginger paste and garlic paste and sauté for 1-2 minutes.

Step 3

Roughly chop tomatoes, grind into a purée and add to the wok and sauté for 4-5 minutes.

Step 4

Add coriander powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, crushed black peppercorns, cumin powder, garam masala powder and salt and sauté for 3-4 minutes.

Step 5

Add 5 cups water and chicken pieces and mix well.

Step 6

Add lemon rind, lemon juice, vermicelli and coriander leaves and mix well. Cook for 6-8 minutes or till the gravy thickens and chicken gets completely cooked.

Step 7

Transfer into a serving bowl, sprinkle some chilli flakes and garam masala powder and serve hot.
