Ingredients for Mutton Kadhi - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Boneless mutton cut into 1 inch pieces 500 grams

  • Gram flour 1 cup

  • Yogurt 1 cup

  • Garlic-green chilli paste 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Ginger-green chilli paste 1 teaspoon

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Black peppercorns 1 teaspoon

  • Cloves 6-8

  • Ginger finely chopped 1 teaspoon

  • Green chillies finely chopped 1-2

  • Medium onions sliced 2

  • Asafoetida 1/4 teaspoon

  • Medium tomato finely chopped 1

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Garam masala powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Green cardamom powder a pinch

  • Fresh coriander leaves finely chopped 1 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander sprig 1


Step 1

Put mutton pieces in a bowl. Add garlic-green chilli paste and salt, mix well and set aside to marinate for 20-25 minutes.

Step 2

Take gram flour, yogurt, ginger-green chilli paste and salt in a bowl, add sufficient water and mix to a thin mixture.

Step 3

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add peppercorns, cloves, ginger, green chillies and onions and mix well.

Step 4

Add salt and asafoetida, mix well and sauté till onions turn golden brown. Add tomato, mix and cook till it turns soft and pulpy.

Step 5

Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and garam masala powder, mix well and cook for a minute.

Step 6

Add marinated mutton pieces and mix. Add sufficient water and salt, mix well, cover and cook till mutton is tender.

Step 7

Add gram flour-yogurt mixture and stir to mix. Add cardamom powder and coriander leaves, mix well and bring to a boil.

Step 8

Garnish with coriander sprig and serve hot.
