Spicy Chicken Hot Dog

Ingredients

  • 4 hot dog buns
  • Chicken mixture
  • 250 grams chicken mince
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • ½ tablespoon chopped ginger
  • 2 fresh red chillies, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 small carrot, peeled and chopped
  • 1½ teaspoons red chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste
  • ½ teaspoon dried mixed herbs
  • 1½ cups fresh tomato puree
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley + to sprinkle
  • Cheese sauce
  • ½ cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons refined flour (maida)
  • 1½ cups milk
  • Shredded cabbage as required

Method

  1. Heat butter and oil in a non-stick wok, add bay leaf, garlic, ginger and red chillies, mix and sauté for 2 minutes.
  2. Add onion and carrot, mix and saute for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add chicken mince, mix and saute on high heat for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add red chilli powder, smoked paprika powder, salt, crushed black peppercorns and dried herbs and mix well.
  5. Add tomato puree and mix well, cover and cook on medium heat for 5-6 minutes.  
  6. For cheese sauce, heat butter in a non-stick pan, add refined flour, mix and sauté for 1 minute.
  7. Add milk and cook, stirring continuously till thick. Add cheddar cheese and cook, stirring, till cheese melts.
  8. Add parsley to the chicken mince mixture and mix well.
  9. Slit the hot dog buns without cutting through. Drizzle some cheese sauce in the slit.
  10. Put some shredded cabbage in the slit and top it with a generous portion of chicken mixture.
  11. Drizzle some more cheese sauce on top, garnish with parsley and serve immediately.
