Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Garlic Cheese Parantha Recipe

  • fried garlic 3 teaspoons

  • Mozzarella cheese 50 grams

  • Cheddar cheese 50 grams

  • processed cheese 50 grams

  • Whole wheat flour (atta) 1 1/2 cups + for dusting

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Parsley chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Chilli flakes dried 2 teaspoons

  • Mixed herbs dried 3/4 teaspoon

  • Butter for applying to serve

  • tomato ketchup to serve

Method

Step 1

Take whole wheat flour in a large bowl, add salt, oil and 1 cup water and mix well. Knead to a semi-soft dough. Cover with damp muslin cloth and set aside for 5-10 minutes.

Step 2

Grate mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese and processed cheese in a bowl. Add parsley, red chilli flakes, dried mixed herbs, fried garlic and mix well.

Step 3

Take a portion of the dough and shape it into a ball and make a cavity in the centre, stuff with a portion of the cheese mixture and bring the sides in the middle and pinch to seal and shape into a ball.

Step 4

Dust the worktop with flour and place the stuffed dough and dust with a little flour on top and roll into a thick disc.

Step 5

Heat a non-stick tawa, place the prepared disc on it and cook till done, applying with butter on both sides. Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
