Ingredients
- 6 medium potatoes, peeled cut into medium cubes
- ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
- 2 tablespoons oil
- ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
- A pinch of asafoetida
- 7-8 curry leaves
- 2 large tomatoes, finely chopped
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- ½ teaspoon coriander powder
- ½ teaspoon cumin powder
- 2 teaspoons chopped fresh coriander leaves
- ½ teaspoon garam masala powder
Method
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker; add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add cumin seeds and saute till they begin to change colour. Add asafoetida, curry leaves, tomatoes, turmeric powder and salt. Mix well and sauté till tomatoes are soft.
- Add chilli powder and coriander powder and cumin powder. Mix well and sauté for a minute.
- Add potatoes and ¾ cup water. Mix well and bring to a boil. Cover the cooker with the lid and cook under pressure till pressure is released 3 times.
- Open the lid of the cooker after the pressure reduces completely, sprinkle coriander leaves and garam masala powder.
- Serve hot.
