Ingredients list for Dhaniya Chicken
- 750 grams Chicken cut into 1 inch pieces on the bone
- A handful Fresh coriander leaves
- 1 teaspoon Ginger chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon Green chillies chopped
- 2 tablespoons Yogurt
- 2 tablespoons Oil
- 2 Bay leaves
- 6 Green cardamoms
- 5 Cloves
- 1 teaspoon Black peppercorns
- 2 Green chillies slit
- 2 Medium onions sliced
- 1 tablespoon Garlic chopped
- 2 tablespoons Refined flour
- 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder
- to taste Salt
- 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves chopped
- 1/2 tablespoon Lemon juice
- to garnish Fresh coriander sprig
Method
- Blend together coriander leaves, ginger, green chillies and yogurt to a smooth paste.
- Heat oil in a deep non-stick pan, add bay leaves, green cardamoms, cloves, black peppercorns, green chillies, onions and garlic, mix and sauté till onions turns translucent. Cover and saute till light golden.
- Add chicken, 1 tablespoon refined flour, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and salt, mix well, cover and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add 1 tablespoon refined flour and mix well. Add the ground coriander leaf paste. Rinse the blender jar with 2 cups water and add to the chicken mixture, mix well, cover and cook till the chicken is fully done.
- Add coriander leaves and lemon juice and mix well.
- Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander sprig and serve hot.
