By Sanjeev Kapoor 05 May 2016 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients Tomatoes, Semolina Cuisine Indian Course Snacks and Starters Prep Time 16-20 minutes Cook time 11-15 minutes Serve 4 Taste Mild Level of Cooking Moderate Others Veg Advertisment Ingredients list for Tomato Upma 3-4 medium Tomatoes 2 cup Semolina 1 medium Carrot 1/2 inch cubes 5-6 French beans 1/2 inch pieces 4-6 small Cauliflower florets 4 tablespoons Oil 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds 4 Whole dry red chillies 2 teaspoon Split black gram skinless (dhuli urad dal) 10-12 Curry leaves 4 Green chillies slit 1 medium Onion finely chopped 1 inch piece Ginger chopped 1 medium Green capsicum 1/2 inch cubes 1/4 cup Green peas 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida to taste Salt 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves chopped Method Advertisment Blanch tomatoes. Drain, remove skin and puree with sufficient water to make four cups of puree. Strain. Roast the rawa in a dry kadai taking care that the colour does not change. Boil two cups of water, add a little salt and boil carrot, beans and cauliflower for five minutes. Drain and keep aside. Heat oil in a kadai. Add mustard seeds, red chillies, urad dal dhuli and curry leaves. When the seeds splutter, add green chillies and stir. Add onion, ginger and sauté for a few minutes. Add capsicum and green peas and sauté for about five minutes. Add the boiled vegetables, sprinkle asafoetida and salt to taste. Add the tomato puree and bring to a boil. Add the rawa in a flow, stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming. Cook for a few more minutes stirring all the while. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
