Be a kid or a teenage or an adult or an oldie, chicken lovers trend all over the world at all times! One meat that is a favourite of all beyond belief! When cooked, it can be presented in many guises. Sauté it, fry it, toss it, bake it, steam it – eat it the way you want to. Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, its flavour may change but its flesh remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.

Ingredients for Chicken Bharta Recipe

  • Chicken Mince mince 1/2 kilogram

  • Onion 3 large

  • Mustard oil 3 tablespoons

  • Black cardamoms 4

  • Bay leaves 2

  • Black peppercorns 1 teaspoon

  • Asafoetida a pinch

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • ginger finely chopped 1 tablespoon

  • garlic finely chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Green chillies 3

  • Red tomatoes 3 large

  • Kashmiri red chilli powder 1 tablespoon

  • Coriander powder 1 tablespoon

  • Turmeric powder a pinch

  • Chicken stock cubes powdered 2

  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh coriander leaves finely chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Juice of ½ lemon

Method

Step 1

Finely chop onions. Add 1 cup water to the chicken mince and set aside.

Step 2

Heat mustard oil in a non-stick wok, add black cardamoms, bay leaves, black peppercorns and asafoetida and saute till fragrant.

Step 3

Add cumin seeds, ginger and garlic and sauté till garlic is lightly browned.

Step 4

Add onions and sauté for a minute. Cut green chillies into 2 and add to the wok. Finely chop the tomatoes, add to the wok and sauté till pulpy.

Step 5

Add Kashmiri red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, powdered chicken stock cubes, garam masala powder and salt and mix. Add chicken mince and mix well. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring continuously.

Step 6

Add coriander leaves, lemon juice and mix well.

Step 7

Switch off the heat, transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
