And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Chatpata Aloo - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Baby potatoes boiled and peeled 20-24

  • Coriander seeds 1 1/2 tablespoons

  • Black peppercorns 12-16

  • Cumin seeds 1 tablespoon

  • Fennel seeds (saunf) 1 teaspoon

  • Kashmiri dried red chillies 4-5

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Asafoetida 1/2 teaspoon

  • Onion seeds (kalonji) 1/2 teaspoon

  • White sesame seeds (safed til) 1 teaspoon

  • Garlic chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Dried mango powder (amchur) 1 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 1 teaspoon for garnish

  • Salt to taste

  • Chaat masala a pinch

Method

Step 1

Grind together coriander seeds, peppercorns, cumin seeds, fennel seeds and red chillies to a fine powder.

Step 2

Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add asafoetida and mix. Add onion seeds and sauté for a minute.

Step 3

Add sesame seeds and garlic, mix and sauté till fragrant.

Step 4

Add potatoes and toss. Add chilli powder, turmeric powder and dried mango powder, mix and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Step 5

Add the ground powder and mix well. Add some water, mix and cook till it dries.

Step 6

Add coriander leaves, mix and cook for a minute. Add salt and chaat masala and mix well.

Step 7

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
