Ingredients
- 2 cups soaked and drained split skinless green gram (dhuli moong dal)
- 4 large white bread slices
- 1 inch ginger, roughly chopped
- 2 green chillies
- 4-5 garlic cloves
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- Salt to taste
- ½ teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 1 small tomato, chopped
- 1 small green capsicum, seeded and chopped
- 1 small carrot, peeled and grated
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves
- White sesame seeds to sprinkle
- Butter for cooking
- Tomato ketchup for serving
Method
- Transfer green gram into a grinder jar, add ginger, green chillies, garlic and ½ cup water and grind to coarse paste.
- Transfer into a bowl, add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt and cumin powder and mix well.
- Add onion, tomato, capsicum and carrot and mix well. Add coriander leaves and mix well.
- Place bread slices on the worktop and apply spread the ground mixture evenly.
- Heat a non-stick tawa, place the bread slice with topping, sprinkle white sesame seeds, drizzle some butter all around the slice, and toast on medium heat for 2-3 minutes or till underside is golden brown.
- Flip, add some more butter and cook on other side for 3-4 minutes on medium heat.
- Cut into triangles and serve hot with tomato ketchup.
