Ingredients
- ¼ cup grated cottage cheese (paneer)
- ½ cup foxtail millets, boiled
- 2 medium potatoes, boiled, peeled and mashed
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1½ teaspoons coriander powder
- ½ teaspoon garam masala powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
- ½ teaspoon red chilli powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 green chillies, chopped
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves
- 1½ teaspoons dried mango powder (amchur)
- Barnyard millet flour (vari ka atta) for coating
- Oil for shallow frying
- Green chutney to serve
Method
- Take paneer in a bowl, add potatoes, foxtail millets, onion, coriander powder, garam masala powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, green chillies and coriander leaves and mix well. Add dried mango powder and mix well.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions, shape each portion into a ball and slightly flatted to shape it like a tikki. Coat each tikki with barnyard millet flour.
- Heat sufficient oil in a non-stick pan. Place the tikkis in the pan and shallow-fry, turning sides, till evenly golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper.
- Arrange the tikkis on a serving platter and serve hot with green chutney
