Ingredients
- 2 cups shelled green peas
- 2 tablespoons oil
- ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
- ½ teaspoon split skinless black gram (dhuli urad dal)
- ½ teaspoon split Bengal gram (chana dal)
- 3 dried red chillies
- 1 green chilli, slit
- 10-12 curry leaves
- ½ teaspoon asafoetida (hing)
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons scraped fresh coconut
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves
Method
- Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add split skinless black gram, split Bengal gram, dried red chillies, green chilli, curry leaves and asafoetida and mix well.
- Add ginger and mix well. Add turmeric powder and mix.
- Add green peas and salt and mix till well combined. Add ¼ cup water, mix and cook for 8-10 minutes.
- Add coconut and coriander leaves and mix well. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
