Avocado Bhel

Give a Mexican touch to your favourite bhel, while also making snacking quick and light with cereal puffs and avocado. Tuck in papdis and there you go, an interesting variant to bhel.

Ingredients

  • ½ avocado
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup puffed rice (kurmura)
  • 1 cup puffed wheat
  • ½ cup puffed barley (jau)
  • ¼ cup puffed quinoa
  • 1 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 medium tomato, finely chopped
  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Black salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves 
  • 2 tablespoons sev + to garnish
  • Crisp papdis to serve

Method

  1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add turmeric powder and salt, mix well and saute for 30 seconds. Add puffed rice, mix and sauté for 1 minute. Transfer into a large bowl.
  2. Add puffed wheat, puffed barley, puffed quinoa and ½ teaspoon chaat masala to the puffed rice and mix well.
  3. Add onion, tomato and green chillies. Cut avocado into small pieces and add. Add lemon juice, salt, remaining chaat masala and black salt and mix well. 
  4. Add coriander leaves and sev and mix well. Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with sev and crisp papdis and serve immediately.
