Ingredients list for Nilgiri Style Chicken-Cook Smart
- 750 grams Chicken cut into medium sized pieces on the bone
- 2 Medium onions peeled
- 2 tablespoons Oil
- 4-5 Cloves
- 1 tablespoon Ginger-garlic paste
- 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon Coriander powder
- to taste Salt
- 6 tablespoons Yogurt
- for garnish Red capsicums cut into thin strips
- for garnish Ginger cut into thin strips
- For paste
- 1 bunch Spinach blanched
- 1/2 bunch Fresh mint leaves roughly chopped
- 1/2 bunch Fresh coriander leaves roughly chopped
- 2 Green chillies roughly chopped
- 1 teaspoon Fennel seeds (saunf)
- 1 cup Fresh coconut scraped
Method
- Finely chop onions.
- Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cloves and onions and saute till translucent.
- Grind together spinach, mint leaves, coriander leaves, green chillies, fennel seeds and coconut with a little water to a fine paste.
- Add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder and coriander powder, mix and saute for 2 minutes. Add chicken and salt and mix well. Cover and cook for 5-6 minutes for till the chicken begins to change colour.
- Add the ground paste and mix well.
- Add yogurt and mix well. Cover and cook on medium heat for 10-15 minutes or till the chicken is completely cooked. Take the pan off the heat and let the chicken remain covered for a few minutes.
- Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot garnished with red capsicum and ginger strips.
