Be a kid or a teenage or an adult or an oldie, chicken lovers trend all over the world at all times! One meat that is a favourite of all beyond belief! When cooked, it can be presented in many guises. Sauté it, fry it, toss it, bake it, steam it – eat it the way you want to. Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, its flavour may change but its flesh remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.

Ingredients for Indian Meatball Mug Pie Recipe

  • Chicken mince 250 grams

  • Naan dough as required

  • Salt to taste

  • Red chilli powder 2 teaspoons

  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Oil 1 tablespo for shallow frying

  • Garlic chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Onion finely chopped 1 medium

  • Tomato puree ½ cup

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Cumin powder ½ teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder ¼ teaspoon

  • Mozzarella cheese grated as required

  • Butter for coating


Step 1

Preheat oven to 180° C.

Step 2

Put chicken mince, salt, 1 teaspoon chilli powder, ½ teaspoon garam masala powder and coriander leaves in a bowl and mix well.

Step 3

Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape into balls.

Step 4

Heat some oil in a non-stick pan. Shallow-fry ball chicken balls from all sides till golden and half cooked. Drain on a plate.

Step 5

Heat 1 tablespoon oil in the same non-stick pan. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds. Add onion and sauté till translucent.

Step 6

Add tomato puree, mix and cook for 1-2 minutes. Add remaining chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, remaining garam masala powder and sauté for 30 seconds.

Step 7

Add 1 cup water, mix and cook for 1-2 minutes. Add salt, mix and cook for 1-2 minutes.

Step 8

Pour the tomato mixture in individual ovenproof serving mugs. Put few meatballs on top and repeat the process till all ingredients are used. Put mozzarella cheese on top.

Step 9

Roll out the naan dough to a thin sheet, place an inverted medium sized bowl and cut into roundels.

Step 10

Cover each mug with a roundel and brush some butter on top.

Step 11

Place the mugs on a baking tray. Place the baking tray in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes.

Step 12

Serve hot.
