Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Dry Fruits And Strawberry Chutney Recipe

  • Strawberries 10

  • Apricots dried 2

  • Prunes dried 2

  • Apples dried 2

  • Figs dried 2

  • Cashewnuts 10

  • Almonds 5

  • Raisins 2 tablespoons

  • Orange peel 1

  • Butter 1 1/2 tablespoons

  • Green cardamoms 4

  • Cloves 5

  • Cinnamon 1 inch stick

  • Sugar 1/2 cup

  • Lemon juice 4 tablespoons

  • Lemon rind 1 teaspoon

  • Honey 3 tablespoons

Method

Step 1

Wash, pat dry and hull strawberries. Chop roughly. Wash and pat dry apricots, prunes, apples and figs.

Step 2

Chop finely. Chop cashewnuts and almonds. Wash and pat dry raisins. Chop orange peel.

Step 3

Heat butter in a pan and add cardamoms, cloves and cinnamon. Sauté for one to two minutes.

Step 4

Add chopped fruits and sauté for two to three minutes. Add sugar and lemon juice.

Step 5

Mix thoroughly.Add a quarter cup of water so that the sugar does not caramelize too much. Let it boil.

Step 6

Add raisins, cashewnuts, almonds, lemon rind and orange peel. Stir in strawberries and mix well.

Step 7

Let it simmer for one to two minutes. Stir in honey. Serve hot or cold.
