Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Strawberry Shahi Tukda Recipe

  • Strawberry syrup 1/2 cup + for drizzling

  • White bread slices 8

  • Ghee to deep fry

  • Green cardamom powder 2 teaspoons

  • Khoya , grated 1/4 cup

  • Fresh strawberries as required

  • Rabdi to garnish

  • Pistachios , blanched and slivered to garnish


Step 1

Cut bread slices into roundels with a medium sized cookie cutter.

Step 2

Heat sufficient ghee in a kadai and deep-fry the bread roundels till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 3

Heat Hershey’s Strawberry Syrup in a non-stick pan. Add green cardamom powder and mix well. Add fried bread roundels, stir and cook till the bread slightly softens. Transfer the bread roundels onto a serving plate.

Step 4

Add khoya to the pan and mix till it melts. Pour the mixture on top of the bread roundels.

Step 5

Make fans of fresh strawberries.

Step 6

Top the bread roundels with some rabdi and strawberry fans, sprinkle pistachios, drizzle some strawberry syrup and serve warm.
