Why is it that when you are stuck at “what should we cook today” the answer is always “make some aloo!” Potatoes are like this…extremely popular and have multipurpose usage.

And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Chutney Wale Aloo-SK Khazana Recipe

  • Baby potatoes parboiled and halved without peeling 16-20

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon

  • Yogurt 2 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

  • White sesame seeds toasted for garnish

  • Chutney

  • Fresh coriander leaves 1 small bunches

  • Fresh mint leaves 10-12

  • Green chilli 1

  • Garlic cloves 4-5

  • Ginger roughly chopped 1 inch

  • Lemon juice 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste


Step 1

To make chutney, blend together coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chilli, garlic, ginger, lemon juice, salt and some water to a fine paste.

Step 2

Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add cumin seeds and sauté for a few seconds.

Step 3

Add potatoes and mix. Add turmeric powder and coriander powder, mix well and cook for a minute.

Step 4

Add some water, mix, cover and cook till dry. Add 2-3 tablespoons of prepared chutney and mix well.

Step 5

Add garam masala powder and yogurt and mix well. Add salt and mix well.

Step 6

Garnish with sesame seeds and serve hot.
