Chana Dal Subzi

Ingredients 

  • 100 grams Bengal gram, soaked overnight
  • 1 medium carrot, peeled and  finely chopped
  • 1 medium capsicum, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup green peas
  • 1/4 medium cauliflower, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 2 medium tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves 

Method

  1. Drain and pressure cook Bengal gram with carrot, capsicum, green peas and cauliflower till the pressure is released twice.
  2. Heat oil in a non stick pan.. Add green chillies, onions and sauté till onions are translucent.
  3. Add turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste, salt, red chilli powder, garam masala powder and sauté for two minutes.
  4. Add tomatoes and cook for four to five minutes.
  5. Add cooked dal. Adjust seasonings and cook for four to five minutes.
  6. Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves.
