And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Aloo Gobhi ki Sabzi - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Potatoes peeled 3 large

  • Cauliflower florets 10-12

  • Ginger roughly chopped 1 1/2 inch

  • Garlic cloves 8-10

  • Green chillies 3-4

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Onion sliced 1 large

  • Tomatoes sliced 2 medium

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • coriander leaves chopped 1 tablespoon

  • coriander leaves for garnish


Step 1

Cut potatoes into big cubes. Put ginger, garlic and green chillies in a mortar and pound them with a pestle.

Step 2

Heat oil in an iron kadai, add cumin seeds and onion and sauté till golden brown. Add the pounded paste, mix well and saute till raw smells disappear.

Step 3

Add tomatoes, mix well and saute till tomatoes soften.

Step 4

Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder, mix well and saute for 1 minute. Add ¼ cup water and mix well. Add potatoes and cauliflower florets and mix well.

Step 5

Add salt and mix well. Add ¼ cup water, mix well, cover and cook for 8-10 minutes or till both potatoes and cauliflower are cooked. Add coriander leaves and mix well.

Step 6

Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with some coriander leaves and serve hot.
