Ingredients
- 1½ cups leftover dal
- ¼ cup blanched and crushed green peas
- ¼ cup grated carrots
- 1 cup semolina (suji)
- 2 green chillies, crushed
- Salt to taste
- 2-3 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves
- 2-3 tablespoons yogurt
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- Ghee as required
- Coconut chutney to serve.
Method
- Take leftover dal in a bowl, add green peas, carrots, semolina, green chillies, salt, coriander leaves, yogurt and 1 cup water and mix well. Set aside for 10-15 minutes.
- Add baking soda and mix well.
- Heat a paniyaram pan and drizzle ghee in each dent. Put a spoonful of batter in each dent, cover and cook for 5-6 minutes.
- Flip and cook for 5-6 minutes more.
- Remove the appe onto a serving platter and serve hot with coconut chutney.
