Chokha

Chokha is a spicy relish or side dish that is served with litti, a Bihari speciality. It's typically made with roasted brinjal or mashed potatoes combined with onions, garlic, ginger, green chillies, mustard oil.

Ingredients

  • 3 medium potatoes, boiled, peeled and mashed
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped garlic
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped ginger
  • 1-2 green chillies, finely chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 small tomato, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves + for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons mustard oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Method

  1. Take potatoes in a large bowl, add onion, garlic, ginger, green chillies, salt, tomato, coriander leaves, mustard oil and lemon juice and mix well. 
  2. Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander leaves and serve with litti and dal.
