Sattu Ka Chokha

Chokha is a mashed relish traditionally made with roasted or grilled eggplant, tomato or potato. But here we have used sattu, which is a roasted chana dal flour. High in protein and fibre it is a healthy alternate to any vegetable.

·         1½ cups sattu

·         2 medium onions

·         2 green chillies, chopped

·         ½ tsp roasted cumin powder

·         1 tsp lemon pickle masala

·         Salt to taste

·         2 tbsps chopped fresh coriander leaves

·         1 tsp finely chopped garlic

·         1 tsp lemon juice

·         2 tbsps mustard oil




1.      Chop onions and transfer into a bowl. Add sattu, green chillies, roasted cumin powder, lemon pickle masala, salt, coriander leaves, garlic, lemon juice and mustard oil and mix well.

2.      Add ¼ cup water and mix into a dough.

3.      Divide the dough into equal portions and shape them into balls. Arrange them in a serving platter and serve.
