Besan Shimla Mirch

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup gram flour (besan)
  • 3 medium green capsicums (shimla mirch), seeded and cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2-3 green chillies, slit
  • 10-12 curry leaves
  • 1½ teaspoons coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder 
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons roasted peanut powder
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves

Method

  1. Dry roast gram flour in a pan till golden brown and transfer onto a plate.
  2. Heat oil in the same pan, add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add cumin seeds and green chillies and sauté for a few seconds.
  3. Add capsicums and sauté on high heat for a few seconds. Add curry leaves and continue to sauté for 1 minute.
  4. Reduce heat to medium, add coriander powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and salt, mix well and saute for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Add roasted peanut powder and mix well and continue to saute for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Add roasted gram flour and mix well. Add ½ cup water, mix, and cook for 1-2 minutes. Add coriander leaves and mix. 
  7. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
