Soya Keema Matar

  • 1 cup soya granules
  • 1/2 cup green peas, blanched
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons ghee
  • 7-8 black peppercorns
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 green chillies, chopped
  • 8 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 2 medium onions, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 bunch chopped fresh coriander leaves 
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Fresh coriander sprig to garnish


  1. Take soya granules in a bowl, add sufficient water and soak for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan, add peppercorns, bay leaf, green chillies, garlic and ginger, mix and sauté till fragrant.
  3. Add onions, mix and sauté till it turns golden brown. Add red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder and salt, mix and sauté for 1-2 minutes on medium heat.
  4. Squeeze soaked soya granules and add to the pan, mix and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add green peas and mix well and cook for 2 minutes. Add coriander leaves and lemon juice, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Transfer onto a serving platter, garnish with coriander sprig and serve hot.
