Be a kid or a teenage or an adult or an oldie, chicken lovers trend all over the world at all times! One meat that is a favourite of all beyond belief! When cooked, it can be presented in many guises. Sauté it, fry it, toss it, bake it, steam it – eat it the way you want to. Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, its flavour may change but its flesh remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.

Ingredients for Simple Chicken Curry-SK Khazana Recipe

  • Chicken cut into 1 inch pieces on the bone 750 grams

  • Yogurt 2 tablespoons

  • Red chilli powder 2 teaspoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Ginger-garlic paste 1 tablespoon

  • Lemon juice 1 to cook

  • Oil 2-3 tablespoons

  • Black peppercorns 6-8

  • Bay leaf 1

  • Green cardamoms 2

  • Cloves 2

  • Medium onions finely chopped 2

  • Medium tomato finely chopped 1

  • Coriander powder 2 teaspoons

  • Cumin powder 1 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander leaces finely chopped 2-3 tablespoons

  • Garam masala powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander sprig for garnish

Method

Step 1

Put chicken pieces in a bowl. Add yogurt, 1 teaspoon chilli powder, salt, ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder and ginger-garlic paste and mix. Add lemon juice, mix well and set aside to marinate for 30 minutes.

Step 2

Heat oil in a non-stick deep pan. Add peppercorns, bay leaf, cardamoms, cloves and onions, mix and sauté till onions turn brown.

Step 3

Add tomato and salt, mix well, cover and cook till tomato turns soft and pulpy.

Step 4

Add remaining chilli powder, salt, remaining turmeric powder, coriander powder and cumin powder and mix well.

Step 5

Add marinated chicken, mix and cook on high heat for 3-4 minutes.

Step 6

Add coriander leaves and 2½ cups water, stir, cover and cook till the chicken is fully done.

Step 7

Add garam masala powder, mix well and let it get heated through.

Step 8

Garnish with coriander sprig and serve hot.
