Ingredients
- 1/2 cup green peas
- 1/2 cup moong mangodi
- 1 1/2 cups sour yogurt
- 3 tablespoons gram flour (besan)
- 6 tablespoons oil
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- A pinch of asafoetida
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds (methi dana)
- 3/4 garlic cloves
- 6-8 curry leaves
- 8 dried button red chillies (bor mirchi)
Method
- Heat 4 tbsps oil in a non-stick pan. Combine gram flour, yogurt, salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and whisk till smooth. Add 3 cups water and mix well.
- Add mangodi to the pan and sauté till golden. Heat 2 tbsps oil in a deep non-stick pan.
- Add asafoetida, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds and sauté till lightly browned.
- Add finely chopped garlic along with curry leaves and button red chillies. Sauté for ½ minute.
- Add yogurt mixture and cook, stirring, till slightly thick. Add green peas and mangodi and cook till they are well done.
- Serve hot with steamed rice.
