Be a kid or a teenage or an adult or an oldie, chicken lovers trend all over the world at all times! One meat that is a favourite of all beyond belief! When cooked, it can be presented in many guises. Sauté it, fry it, toss it, bake it, steam it – eat it the way you want to. Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, its flavour may change but its flesh remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.

Ingredients for Masala Chicken Recipe

  • Chicken cut into bite sized pieces on the bone 750 grams

  • Green chillies 4-5

  • Ginger 1 inch

  • Garlic 8-10 cloves

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Large onion chopped 1

  • Tomato puree 1 cup

  • Salt to taste

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 2 teaspoons

  • Cumin powder 1 teaspoon

  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Fresh coriander sprig to garnish


Step 1

Put green chillies, ginger, garlic in a blender jar, add a little water and grind it into a smooth paste.

Step 2

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds and saute till their colour changes.

Step 3

Add onion, mix and sauté till translucent. Add the ground paste, mix well and saute till the mixture turns golden and dry.

Step 4

Add tomato puree, ½ cup water and salt, mix well and cook till it comes to a boil. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and garam masala powder, mix well and sauté for 2 minutes.

Step 5

Add 1 cup water and mix well. Add chicken, mix well, cover and cook till chicken is cooked completely. Add coriander leaves, adjust salt, mix and cook for 1 minute.

Step 6

Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander sprig and serve hot.
