Ingredients list for Masala Chicken
- 750 grams Chicken cut into bite sized pieces on the bone
- 4-5 Green chillies
- 1 inch Ginger
- 8-10 cloves Garlic
- 2 tablespoons Oil
- 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
- 1 Large onion chopped
- 1 cup Tomato puree
- to taste Salt
- 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 2 teaspoons Coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder
- 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves chopped
- to garnish Fresh coriander sprig
Method
- Put green chillies, ginger, garlic in a blender jar, add a little water and grind it into a smooth paste.
- Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds and saute till their colour changes.
- Add onion, mix and sauté till translucent. Add the ground paste, mix well and saute till the mixture turns golden and dry.
- Add tomato puree, ½ cup water and salt, mix well and cook till it comes to a boil. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and garam masala powder, mix well and sauté for 2 minutes.
- Add 1 cup water and mix well. Add chicken, mix well, cover and cook till chicken is cooked completely. Add coriander leaves, adjust salt, mix and cook for 1 minute.
- Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander sprig and serve hot.
