Ingredients
- 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into 1 inch pieces
- 2 medium onions, roughly chopped
- 2 medium tomatoes, roughly chopped
- 1 inch ginger piece ,roughly chopped
- 2 green chillies
- 6 garlic cloves
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 2 teaspoons coriander powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon fresh cream
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves
- 1 inch ginger piece, cut into thin strips
Method
- Grind onions, tomatoes, ginger and garlic cloves to a smooth paste.
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add cumin seeds and as they begin to change colour add the paste and sauté till oil separates.
- Add potatoes, turmeric powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder and sauté for two minutes.
- Add salt and mix.Add four cups water and stir.
- Once the water comes to a boil, close the lid of the cooker and cook under pressure till the pressure is released thrice (3 whistles).
- Open the lid once the pressure is completely reduced.
- Add fresh cream and coriander leaves and mix well.
- Garnish with ginger strips and serve hot with rotis.
