  • 750 grams Chicken legs
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garam masala powder
  • 1/2 cup Yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons White sesame seeds
  • 1/2 cup Peanuts
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1 inch Cinnamon
  • 3 Green cardamoms
  • 1/2 tablespoon Garlic finely chopped
  • 1/2 tablespoon Ginger finely chopped
  • 1 Medium onion sliced
  • to garnish Fresh coriander leaves


  1. Take chicken in a bowl, add salt, chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, yogurt and lemon juice, mix well and set aside to marinate for 35-40 minutes.
  2. Heat a non-stick pan, add sesame seeds and peanuts and roast till light golden. Transfer into a blender jar, add 2-3 tablespoons water and blend into a smooth paste. Add a little more water if required.
  3. Heat oil in a deep non-stick pan, add cinnamon, cardamoms, garlic, ginger, mix well and sauté for a few seconds. Add onions, mix and sauté till the onions are lightly browned.
  4. Add sesame seeds-peanut paste, mix well and saute for 2 minutes. Add marinated chicken legs, mix well and saute for 2 minutes. Add salt and ½ cup water, mix well, cover and cook for 15-20 minutes or till the chicken is completely cooked.
  5. Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander leaves and serve immediately.
