Ingredients 

  • 4 green tomatoes finely chopped
  • 2 kiwi peeled and finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • A pinch fenugreek seeds (methi dana)
  • A pinch onion seeds (kalonji)
  • A pinch fennel seeds (saunf)
  • 1 tablespoon ginger chopped
  • 2 green chillies chopped
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black salt (kala namak)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chilli vinegar

Method

  1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, onion seeds, fennel seeds, ginger and green chillies and sauté till fragrant.
  2. Add green tomatoes and kiwis and mix and cook till both tomatoes and kiwis soften.
  3. Add sugar and mix well. Add red chilli powder, black pepper powder and black salt and mix well. Add salt, mix well and continue to cook till tomatoes are fully cooked.
  4. Add vinegar and mix well.
  5. Transfer into serving bowl and serve.
