Ingredients 

  • 1 1/2 cups fresh green peas
  • 2 large green capsicums
  • 2 tablespoons mustard oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped ginger 
  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped
  • A pinch of turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried mango powder (amchur)
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh coriander leaves 

For garnishing

  • A fresh red chilli
  • Thin strips of red capsicum
  • Thin strips of ginger

Method

  1. Finely chop green capsicum and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add asafoetida, cumin seeds, ginger and green chillies and sauté for half a minute.
  3. Add green peas, turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, dried mango powder and salt and mix well.
  4. Add green capsicum, mix and sauté for 3-4 minutes. Add 1 cup water and cook for 5-6 minutes till the gravy thickens.
  5. Add coriander leaves and mix well.
  6. Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with a fresh red chilli and thin strips of red capsicum and ginger and serve hot.
