Ingredients list for Goan Mackerel Curry
- 3 Mackerel fish, cut into halves
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- to taste Salt
- 1 tablespoon Vinegar
- 1/2 inch Cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon Cumin seeds
- 4-5 Black peppercorns
- 3-4 Cloves
- 3-4 Dried red chillies
- 1 inch Ginger
- 5-6 Garlic cloves
- 1 tablespoon Oil
- 6-7 Curry leaves
- 1 medium Onion chopped
- a pinch Sugar
Method
- Take fish in a bowl. Add turmeric powder and salt, mix well and set aside.
- Grind together vinegar, cinnamon, cumin seeds, peppercorns, cloves, red chillies, ginger and garlic along with some water into a fine paste.
- Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add curry leaves and onion, mix and sauté till onion turns golden.
- Add the prepared paste, mix and sauté till fragrant. Add 1 cup water, mix and bring to boil.
- Add fish, mix lightly and cook on low heat for 5 minutes. Add sugar, mix and cook for a minute.
- Serve hot.
