Ingredients
- 1 medium cabbage
- 1 1/2 cup split Bengal gram (chana dal), soaked
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 medium onion
- 2 medium potatoes
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- A few curry leaves
- 2-3 dried red chillies
- 3 green chillies, cut into 3 pieces each
- 2 inch piece chopped
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
Method
- Shred cabbage but not too finely.
- Heat a pressure cooker and add oil.Slice onions. Quarter potatoes and cut into thick slices.
- Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, curry leaves, red chillies and green chillies in the pressure cooker. Add onions and sauté.
- Add ginger, potatoes, black chana, ¼ cup water, salt and turmeric powder. Mix well.Add cabbage, mix and cover.
- Cook till 3-4 whistles are given out. Open the lid when pressure is released and serve hot.
