Why is it that when you are stuck at “what should we cook today” the answer is always “make some aloo!” Potatoes are like this…extremely popular and have multipurpose usage.

And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Potato Bites Recipe

  • Potatoes , boiled, peeled and grated 1 cup

  • Schezwan sauce 1 tablespoon

  • Mayonnaise 2 tablespoons

  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste

  • Green chillies , chopped 1/2 for decorating

  • Red chilli flakes 1/2 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander leaves , chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Bread crumbs , dried 3 tablespo for coating

  • Salt to taste

  • Cornflour/ corn starch slurry 2-3 tablespoons

  • Oil for deep-frying

  • Tomato ketchup to serve


Step 1

Take potatoes in a bowl, add Schezwan sauce, mayonnaise, crushed peppercorns, green chillies, red chilli flakes, coriander leaves, breadcrumbs and salt and mix well.

Step 2

Take cornflour slurry in a bowl and spread some breadcrumbs on a plate.

Step 3

Divide the potato mixture into equal portions and shape them into cylinders. Dip in slurry, coat in breadcrumbs, roll lightly between your palms, repeat the process once and place on a plate.

Step 4

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Slide in these bites into hot oil and deep-fry till golden-brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 5

Transfer them into a serving bowl and serve hot with tomato ketchup.
