How many times have we thought rice is a blessing? We use it for holy purposes but we also can pressure up a quick pulao or khichdi when hunger pangs are drumming away! This is one grain that is about 98% percent digestible. In India we are familiar with Basmati, Patna or brown rice but it is also available as Italian Rice and Glutinous Rice which is popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

Ingredients for Sprouted Methi Rice Recipe

  • Rice soaked 1 cup

  • Fenugreek Seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Onion paste 1 teaspoon

  • Ginger-garlic paste 2 teaspoons

  • Green chilli paste 1 teaspoon

  • Sugar 1/2 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Yogurt 1/2 cup

  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon

  • Cumin powder 1 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Desiccated coconut 2 teaspoons

  • Lemon juice 2 teaspoons

  • coriander leaves chopped 2 tablespoons

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a non stick pan. Add onion paste and saute for half minute.

Step 2

Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for half minute. Add fenugreek seeds. Mix well.

Step 3

Add turmeric, green chilli paste and sauté. Add rice, sugar, salt and yogurt. Add garam masala powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and mix well.

Step 4

Add two and half cups of water. Cover and cook till three fourth done. Add desiccated coconut. Mix and cook till rice is completely cooked.

Step 5

Add lemon juice and mix well.Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves.
