Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Paneer With Nuts Recipe

  • Cottage cheese 400 grams

  • Almonds 6-8

  • Cashewnuts 6-8

  • Pine nuts(chilgoza) 1 tablespoon

  • Tomatoes 2 large

  • Fresh coriander leaves a few sprigs

  • Ghee 2 tablespoons

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Garam masala powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Suger 1 teaspoon


Step 1

Cut cottage cheese into one inch sized diamonds and keep aside. Blanch tomatoes in boiling water for two to three minutes, refresh, remove skin and chop finely. Clean, wash and finely chop coriander leaves. Blanch almonds in boiling water for two minutes.

Step 2

Drain, peel and cut into slivers. Slit cashewnuts in two. Heat two tablespoons of ghee in a kadai, add cumin seeds. When they change colour add almond slivers, cashewnuts and pine nuts and sauté till pink.

Step 3

Add the chopped tomatoes, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and salt and cook on medium heat for two to three minutes. Add ginger powder and sugar and continue to sauté for another minute. Add the cottage cheese pieces and cook on low heat for another minute stirring gently till oil leaves the masala.

Step 4

Serve hot garnished with chopped coriander.
