Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Paneer Taka Tak-SK Khazana Recipe

  • Cottage cheese (paneer) cut into cubes 250 grams

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Large onion finely chopped 1

  • Ginger-garlic pastge 1 tablespoon

  • Green chilli chopped 1

  • Medium tomato finely chopped 1

  • Red chili powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 2 teaspoons

  • Pav bhaji masala 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Small green capsicum cut into small cubes 1

  • Small yellow capsicum cut into small cubes 1

  • Fresh cream 2 tablespoons

  • Cashewnut paste 1 tablespoon

  • Onion rings for garnish

  • Lemon wedges for garnish

  • Fresh coriander sprig for garnish


Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds and when they begin to change colour add onions and sauté till translucent.

Step 2

Add ginger-garlic paste, sauté till fragrant. Add green chillies and tomato, mix well. Cook till tomatoes soften.

Step 3

Add chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, pav bhaji masala and salt. Mix well. Add some water and mix well.

Step 4

Add green capsicum and yellow capsicum. Mix well and cook for 5-6 minutes.

Step 5

Add fresh cream and mix well. Add cashewnut paste and mix well. Add paneer and mix with a light hand. Cook for 4-5 minutes.

Step 6

Garnish with onion rings, lemon wedges and coriander sprig. Serve hot.
