Ingredients list for Cornflakes Chivda

  • 2 cups Corn Flakes
  • 2tbsps + to deep fry Cashewnuts
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 2 Green chillies slit
  • 5-6 Curry leaves
  • 20-25 Raisins
  • 20-25 Cashewnuts
  • 2 teaspoons Turmeric powder
  • 2 teaspoons Red chilli powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Roasted peanuts
  • 1/4 cup Roasted chana dal (dalia)

Method

  1. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry cornflakes till crisp but not coloured.
  2. Drain on absorbent paper. Heat two tablespoons oil in another pan and add mustard seeds.
  3. When they splutter, add green chillies, curry leaves, raisins and cashewnuts and sauté for a minute and take it off the heat.
  4. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, sugar, peanuts, chana dal and cornflakes and toss.
  5. When completely cooled, store in an airtight container in a cool dry place.
