Ingredients list for Chaunka Matar

  • 2 cups Green peas
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 inch Ginger chopped
  • 1 Green chilli chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • to taste Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Garam masala powder
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • for garnishing Ginger juliennes

Method

  1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add cumin seeds and when the seeds change colour, add ginger and green chilli and sauté well.
  2. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, mix well and sauté for ½ a minute.
  3. Add green peas and toss to mix. Cook till the green peas are tender.
  4. Add salt, garam masala powder and mix well.
  5. Add lemon juice and chopped coriander and mix well. Garnish with ginger juliennes and serve hot.
