Ingredients
- 1 medium bottle gourd (lauki)
- Oil for deep frying
- 1 cup gram flour (besan)
- 2 tablespoons rice flour
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- ½ teaspoon red chilli powder
- Salt to taste
- ½ teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain)
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic-green chilli paste
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves
- Green chutney to serve
Method
- Peel the bottle gourd, cut into thin roundels and dip them in water.
- Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
- Take gram flour in mixing bowl, add rice flour, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, crushed carom seeds, ginger-garlic-green chilli paste and coriander leaves and mix. Gradually add ¾ cup water and mix well for 3-4 minutes or till you get a smooth batter.
- Dip the roundels in the batter, gently slide into hot oil and deep fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent pepper.
- Arrange on a serving plate and serve hot with green chutney.
