Fansache Sandan

Fanas is jackfruit and in this dish we have used the ripe one. This recipe is made with a batter of ripe jackfruit paste, idli rawa and jaggery, spread on banana leaves and steamed till done. Result - a scrumptious steamed cake.

Method

  1. Put the jackfruit arils in a blender jar, add jaggery and blend to a fine paste.
  2. Transfer the paste into a deep pan, add green cardamom powder and idli rawa and mix well. Add salt and mix well. Set aside for 25-30 minutes.
  3. Heat sufficient water in a steamer.
  4. Grease banana leaves with some ghee and spread a portion of jackfruit mixture on each leaf. Sprinkle almonds, fold the other side over and place on the perforated steamer plate. Cover the steamer and steam for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Remove from the leaves, arrange on a serving plate and serve.
