Ingredients
- 20-25 prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 4-5 teaspoons coarsely crushed black peppercorns
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 teaspoon finely chopped ginger
- 2 teaspoons finely chopped garlic
- 12-14 curry leaves
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 1½ tablespoons coriander powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons freshly chopped coriander leaves
- 4 teaspoons tamarind pulp
- 3 tablespoons scraped fresh coconut
Method
- Heat oil in a non-stick shallow pan, add onion, ginger, garlic and curry leaves. Sauté on high heat for 2-3 minutes.
- Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder, mix well.
- Add prawns and salt. Toss well and add coarsely crushed black peppercorns. Add 1 tablespoon chopped coriander and mix well. Cook for 3-4 minutes.
- Add tamarind pulp and coconut. Mix well and cook for 3-4 minutes. Take it off the heat and transfer to a serving bowl.
- Serve hot.
