Ingredients list for Molake huruli(horsegram)curry

  • 2 cups Horsegram sprouted
  • 3/4 cup Coconut grated
  • 1/2 inch piece Ginger
  • 5 cloves Garlic
  • 1/4 cup coriander leaves chopped
  • 2 Cloves
  • 1 inch stick Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Poppy seeds (khuskhus/posto)
  • 2 medium Tomato roughly chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 8 Curry leaves
  • 1 medium Onion chopped
  • to taste Salt

Method

  1. Grind together grated coconut, ginger, garlic cloves, chopped fresh coriander leaves, cloves, cinnamon stick, poppy seeds, tomatoes, red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder with little water to make a fine paste.
  2. Heat oil in a non stick pressure cooker, add curry leaves when it starts spluttering add onions and saute till light brown.
  3. Add sprouted horse grams, salt and ground masala and saute for a minute.Add three cups water and pressure cook till three whistles.Remove from flame and serve with steam rice.
