And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Molaga Podi Aloo Tuk Recipe

  • Baby potatoes boiled 16-20

  • Molagapodi (gun powder) 2 teaspoons

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Green chillies slit 2

  • Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Curry leaves 5-7

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder ¼ teaspoon

  • Dried mango powder 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Lemon juice 1 tablespoon


Step 1

Flatten the baby potatoes between your palms and put into a bowl.

Step 2

Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add green chillies and sauté for 10 seconds. Add mustard seeds and let it splutter. Add curry leaves and let it crackle.

Step 3

Add flattened baby potatoes, mix and cook till golden.

Step 4

Add chilli powder, turmeric powder, dried mango powder and gun powder and mix. Add salt, mix and cook for 1 minute.

Step 5

Add coriander leaves and toss well. Add lemon juice, switch off heat and mix.

Step 6

Serve hot.
