Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Jackfruit Seeds Sabzi - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Jackfruit seeds (atle) boiled, peeled and quartered 25-30

  • Oil 1 1/2 tablespoons

  • Green chillies chopped 1-2

  • Ginger grated 2 teaspoons

  • Garlic finely chopped 2 teaspoons

  • Onion finely chopped 1 medium

  • Fresh tomato puree 1 cup

  • Garam masala powder 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Red chilli powder 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 3/4 teaspoon

  • Cumin powder 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Salt to taste

  • coriander leaves chopped 2 tablespoons

  • coriander sprig for garnish

  • Chapatis to serve

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add green chillies, ginger and garlic, mix and sauté for 1-2 minutes or till fragrant.

Step 2

Add onion, mix well and sauté till translucent. Add tomato puree and mix well and sauté for 2-3 minutes.

Step 3

Add garam masala, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and cumin powder, mix well and sauté for 1 minute.

Step 4

Add salt, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes or till oil surfaces. Add ½ cup water and mix well.

Step 5

Add jackfruit seeds and coriander leaves and mix well. Cook for 1 minute and take it off the heat.

Step 6

Transfer into a serving plate garnish with coriander sprig. Serve hot with chapattis.
