Ingredients list for CABBAGE CHANA DAL
- grams Cabbage shredded
- tablespoons Chana Dal soaked
- tablespoons Oil
- 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
- teaspoon Cumin seeds
- a pinch Asafoetida
- 6-8 Curry leaves
- 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
- 2 teaspoons Coriander-cumin powder
- to taste Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Sugar
- 2 tablespoons Fresh coconut scraped
Method
- Heat oil in a non-stick pan and add mustard seeds. Once they start to splutter, add cumin seeds.
- Once cumin seeds start to change colour, add asafetida and curry leaves and sauté for a few seconds.
- Add split Bengal grams and sauté for two to three minutes.
- Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander-cumin powder and mix well.
- Add cabbage and mix well. Lower the heat and cook for two to three minutes.
- Add salt and sugar and mix well.
- Cover and cook till cabbage and the grams are completely cooked.
- Serve hot garnished with coconut.
