Ingredients list for Baked Bread And Vegetable Pudding

  • 8 slices Brown bread slices
  • 1/4 small Processed cheese separated into florets
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 3 tablespoons Butter
  • 2-3 Cloves
  • 1 medium Onion chopped
  • 3 tablespoons Refined flour (maida)
  • 3 cups Milk
  • a pinch Nutmeg grated
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 cup Cheese grated
  • 1/4 cup Green peas blanched
  • 1 large Potato boiled 1 cm dices
  • 2 medium Carrots blanched 1 cm dices
  • 6-8 French beans blanched 1/2 inch pieces
  • 1/4 small Broccoli separated into florets
  • 4 tablespoons Tomato ketchup
  • 4 tablespoons Red chilli sauce
  • 3-4 Butter cubes

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  2. Cut the brown bread slices into one-inch pieces and put them in a baking dish.
  3. Heat oil and three tablespoon of butter in a pan. Add cloves, chopped onion and sauté. Add refined flour and stir. Add milk gradually stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Boil till it thickens.
  4. Remove the cloves. Add grated nutmeg, salt and half the grated cheese and mix well. Add half the peas, potato, half the carrots, beans, broccoli to the baking dish.
  5. Pour the sauce over it. Drop spoonfuls of ketchup in some places. Similarly drop chilli sauce too.
  6. Cover with the remaining grated cheese and lastly add the remaining peas and carrots. Keep some butter cubes on the top and place the tray in the oven and bake at 200°C for ten to fifteen minutes.
  7. Serve hot.
