Ingredients list for Amti
- 1 cup Toor dal soaked and pressure cooked with turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon Oil
- 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
- 1 medium Onion chopped
- 2 Green chillies slit
- 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida
- to taste Salt
- 1 teaspoon Jaggery (gur) grated
- 1 teaspoon Tamarind pulp
- 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Goda masala
- 1 teaspoon Fresh coriander leaves chopped
- 1 tablespoon Fresh coconut scraped
Method
- Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add cumin seeds, chopped onion, green chillies and asafoetida. Mix and sauté till the onion turns light brown.
- Add cooked pigeon peas and 2 cups water, stir to mix and bring to a boil.
- Add salt, jaggery, tamarind pulp, chilli powder and goda masala, stir to mix and simmer for 4-5 minutes.
- Add chopped coriander and coconut and mix well.
- Serve hot garnished with a coriander sprig.
