Ingredients list for Amritsari Sookhi Dal
- 1 cup Skinless Split Black Gram soaked
- to taste Tomatoes
- 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 3 tablespoons Oil
- 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida
- 1 teaspoon Ginger chopped
- 2 medium Onions chopped
- 2 Green chillies
- 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder
- 2 medium Tomatoes chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon Garam masala powder
- a few sprigs Fresh coriander leaves
- a few drops Lemon juice
Method
- Drain and cook urad dal with salt, turmeric powder and 2 cups water till just done.
Take care that the dal does not get overcooked and each grain remains separate. - Heat oil in a non stick pan.
Add cumin seeds, asafoetida, ginger and onions and sauté till fragrant. - Chop green chillies and add along with red chilli powder, tomatoes and sauté.
Drain dal and add and mix gently. - Adjust salt and add garam masala powder and mix.
Chop coriander leaves and add and mix well. - You can add lemon juice if you wish.
Serve hot.
